President Fernando Henrique Cardoso praised his host on his initiatives in disarmament and the fight against terrorism. President Cardoso gave his full support for a world alliance against terrorism, declaring that there is a convergence in points of view, especially regarding the latest events. These made it clear that there is a need for a great world alliance against terrorism.
President Cardoso also thanked the efforts of Vladimir Putin towards making Brazil a permanent member of the United Nations Security Council. President Vladimir Putin had handed his Brazilian counterpart a translation from Portuguese into Russian of his work, Dependency and Development in Latin America , declaring that Russia has a great interest in strengthening political, economic and cultural ties with these countries. After presenting a wreath of flowers at the tomb of the unknown soldier in Red Square, Fernando Henrique Cardoso declared that Our relationship is better and better.
