If Bush is disappointed in Arafat, like he said it, then the Chinese are disappointed in Israel. This is a conclusion from the message, delivered by Jiang Zemin to the leader of the Palestine autonomy. Jiang’s response to Yasser Arafat’s anxious message contains the words of sympathy with the difficult situation, which the national leadership and the people of Palestine had to face. China’s leader set out his approval to the suggestion of the Palestine’s authorities to cease fire with Israel: “China does not approve Israel to use such measures as strikes, economic blockade, causing damage to the Palestinian population and their property, and especially limiting Yasser Arafat’s freedom to move.”
The common people of China are far more imperative in their opinions. Some of them say that Israel’s military and administrative machine is the main source of terrorism in the Middle East.
