Russia's President Vladimir Putin has called on the FSB to use adequately its instruments. When speaking at an FSB meeting on Friday, the President stressed that the FSB instruments were "extremely powerful" and "their usage must adequately comply with modern development of political, economic and social processes in Russia.
The Russian Head of State expressed confidence that security services would continue acting in the interests of the society's democratization and take into account its needs.
"The FSB is an essential part of the whole system of state democratic institutions," the President said. The Service must solve its tasks "as part of the country's single development strategy," the President pointed out.
"In this context I ask you both in everyday work and planning, to consider all current doctrine documents of the country's foreign, defence and interior policy," Putin stressed.
At today's meeting, the Russian Head of State also proposed to analyze the results of the FSB work in 2002 and to discuss its short-term priorities.
