Mine wounds soldier in Chechnya

In the Nozhai-Yurtovsky district in Chechnya, a Defense Ministry reconnaissance group tripped a mine and one member of the group was wounded, a source in the Joint Group of Forces in the North Caucasus headquarters told RIA Novosti.

The source said that the incident took place at about 11:20 a.m., Moscow time, yesterday.

"The Russian Defense Ministry special forces group stepped on a mine," the source said.

The wounded man was hospitalized with non-life threatening wounds, the source said.

According to the spokesman for the regional headquarters for operations in the North Caucasus, Ministry of Defense special forces killed three militants in the Vedensky district.

The spokesman said that local residents reported that they had noticed the militants in the Khachari settlement.

"A Russian Defense Ministry special forces unit located and killed the militants in a search operation," the spokesman said.

At the location of the fight, two Kalashnikov rifles, ammunition, a pistol, and a marked map of the Vedensky district were found.
