Participant of June 22 bandit attack detained in Ingushetia

In Nazran, a city in Ingushetia (a North Caucasian republic neighboring on Chechnya), a local resident was detained, who took an active part in the bandit attack in Ingushetia in the early hours of June 22, a source in the Interior Ministry of Ingushetia told RIA Novosti by phone on Wednesday.

The source said that Ali Yandiyev was detained by the staff of the main department of Russia's Interior Ministry for the Southern Federal District.

"According to intelligence reports, Yandiyev took an active part in the armed attack in the early hours of June 22 on an ammunition dump of the Interior Ministry of Ingushetia," the source told the agency.

A search conducted in the backyard of his house by operatives revealed a cache of 55 Makarov pistols, two APS pistols, a Margolin-type pistol, six grenade launchers, three machine gun barrels, six Kalashnikov automatic rifles, a Tigr carbine, five attachments for noiseless firing, an optical sight, and 15 Kenwood radio stations.

According to Interior Ministry data, the weapons were stolen from the armaments store of the ministry.

In the Malgobek district of Ingushetia, members of the criminal investigation department discovered 200 kilograms of explosive components (aluminum powder), the source in the republic's Interior Ministry also told RIA Novosti.

"The cache yielded 200 kilograms of powder packaged in three cellophane bags. An investigation has been launched on this fact," the source told the agency.

In the early hours of June 22, several bandit groups attacked populated centers in Ingushetia, in particular in the former capital of the republic - Nazran. The attack left more than 90 people dead, mainly members of law enforcement bodies.
