2 terrorist killed in armed clash

As a result of the federal forces' armed clash with seven militants in Chechnya, two militants were killed.

"On Thursday a reconnaissance unit of the federal forces made an ambush several kilometers to the south of Elistanzhi (a settlement in the Vedensky district) and found a group of 5-7 militants," the regional operative staff for the counter-terrorist operation in the North Caucasus told RIA Novosti on Friday.

The militants put out an armed resistance. Two of them were killed in return fire and the others escaped in the woods, the operative staff said.

The killed militants were identified as Ibragim (also known as Abdul-Malik) and Ismail Malsagov (also known as Ismail).

Two AK-74 assault rifles, over 1,500 5.45 mm cartridges, eight AK magazines, five machine-gun magazines, three rocket-launcher rounds, two handmade grenades, 50 electric detonators, two radio stations and a notebook were found at the site of the clash.

"The search for the other militants is underway," the staff reported.
