Metrojet air crash: Erratic altitude and speed indications

The Metrojet Airbus A321-231, Flight Number 7K9268 from Sharm el-Sheikh International Airport, Egypt to Saint Petersburg - Pulkovo Airport, which crashed this morning shortly after last contact was made at 06.13 local time (04.13 UTC), showed erratic speed and altitude indications.

All 224 people aboard the flight were killed in the crash (seven crew, 200 adult passengers and 17 children). The aircraft took off from Sharm el-Sheikh at 05.49 local time (03.49 UTC) at the southern tip of the Sinai Peninsula. 24 minutes later the last contact was made, at 06.13 at an altitude of  27.925 feet as it climbed to an agreed altitude of 30.875 feet.

 Flight tracking radar shows erratic altitude and speed indications. The aircraft then crashed into the Sinai desert leaving no survivors.

Islamic State is reported to have claimed responsibility for an attack. President Putin has called a day of mourning.
