On Compensations For People Left Homeless In Chechnya

More than 18 billion roubles (1 American dollar approximately equals 30 roubles) is planned to be allocated for restoring the housing of citizens who have been left homeless during an antiterrorist operation in the Chechen republic. Russian minister Vladimir Yelagin reported this on results of a sitting of the governmental commission for the rehabilitation of the economy and the social sphere. In 2002 a switch should be made from the handling of goals of life support for the Chechnya population to implementing a master plan of development in Chechnya and forming its economy in general, said Yelagin. "A rehabilitation mechanism has been created. Most contradictions have been eliminated. In the beginning of 2002 efficient work to rehabilitate Chechnya can begin", said Vladimir Yelagin.
