Commission On Chechnya Restoration Gathers For A Session

Only 3.68 billion roubles /1 US dollar equals some 30 roubles/ out of the 4.5 billion roubles allocated by the Russian government for implementing the programme on economic and social restoration of Chechnya in 2001 have been spent so far, minister Vladimir Yelagin said after a session of the commission on economic and social restoration of Chechnya. The 2001 targets have been fulfilled to 80 percent. We have questions to some state commissioners of the programme, noted Yelagin. The realisation of the programme will be finally summed up in February 2002. As a drawback, Yelagin cited the work in the healthcare and education areas. At the same time, the Rosneft oil company has overfulfilled the schedule of investment into Chechnya's economy by 13 percent by having transferred over 270 million roubles for Chechnya's restoration, including in its oil sector. The minister also said that more than 2,000 houses had been constructed in Chechnya in 2001, along with 100,000 square metres of municipal housing commissioned. In all, Chechnya's housing restoration programme has been fulfilled in 2001. In 2002 some 5,000 detached houses are to be constructed in Chechnya. Some 1.4 billion roubles will be allocated to this end in 2002.
