At a meeting Tuesday, Tajikistan's President Emomali Rakhmonov and Lynn Pasco, a high-ranking official from the U.S. State Department, discussed the situation in the Central Asian region, and in particular in Afghanistan, as well as the Tajik-American relations. Mr. Pasco delivered U.S. President George W. Bush's personal message to Mr. Rakhmonov. During the meeting with the American emissary, the Tajik president stressed that at the negotiations on Afghanistan with Defence Secretary Donald Rumsfeld in Dushanbe on November 3rd the two sides reached "complete understanding." At the meeting with Mr. Pasco, President Rakhmonov expressed his interest in establishing economic cooperation with the U.S., and first of all, in attracting American investors. At the press conference after the meeting, the American diplomat did not elaborate on the details of his talks with the Tajik leader.
