Kissing in front of the Colosseum, gay couples held a small gathering to protest the brief detention of two men earlier this week for kissing in front of the famous Rome monument.
The gathering Sunday night drew a few dozen people to the ancient arena. Another "kiss-in" protest is scheduled for later this week.
The two men were held for about 40 minutes Friday for what police said were lewd acts in public. Police insist there was no discrimination, but the incident enraged gay rights groups, which said the two men, aged 27 and 28, had only shared a gesture of affection.
