Death penalty is an integral part of the struggle against drug trafficking, Russian State Duma (lower house) deputy Nikolai Kovalyov said on Friday. Kovalyov is deputy head of the State Duma Security Committee and head of the Duma Anti-Corruption Committee. About three percent of the world's population are addicted to drugs. The turnover of drug traffickers reaches $400 billion, about eight percent of the world trade. According to statistics cited by Deputy Health Minister Yevgeny Detkov, the number of teenagers addicted to drugs is twice the number of adult drug addicts.
