Russia to base its Iraq debt position on economic interests

Russia's position on the Iraq debt restructuring will meet our country's economic interests and the interests of Russian companies working in Iraq.

This is what Russia's Deputy Foreign Minister Yuri Fedotov said Friday at a RIA Novosti press conference.

According to him, Russia's position remains unchanged - "Iraq's debt should be restructured on the basis of rules determined by the Paris Club." Fedotov also said that consistent solution of the Iraq debt problem would help promote Russia's economic interests in Iraq.
