Vladimir Putin has promised Moscow that the federal authority is behind it. The pledge of support came as the head of state took part today in the inauguration of Moscow Mayor Yury Luzhkov, a Rosbalt correspondent reported. 'Moscow is more than simply a big city and a great city. It is Russia's capital, and so concern about Moscow is not just a matter for city officials or the millions of Muscovites but a matter for all Russia, for the central federal administration and leadership,' the president stressed. 'We have worked well up to now with the Moscow team and its mayor, and, I hope, that will continue.' Putin also noted that 'Moscow has its own style and style of leadership.' The head of state expressed the hope that Yury Luzhkov 'will use all his strength in the service of the people of Moscow and thus in the service of all Russia.'
