President Vladimir Putin has highlighted the role of the Constitution in the development of the economy and democracy in Russia.
Speaking on Friday at a Kremlin meeting with judges of the Constitutional Court of Russia, the head of state said in particular that the judges "remember the circumstances in which the Constitution was adopted and the role it played in stabilizing the situation in the country if only to a condition from which it could kick off in its development, as today." "It took a lot of time and, of course, the Constitution alone was not enough but it was an indispensable condition for the country to start along the path of democracy and also an indispensable condition for economic development," Putin said.
"Without it nothing could have been done at all, " the Russian president added.
