Russia has allocated $54.3m (about 38.94m Special Drawing Rights, or SDRs) in debt payments to the International Monetary Fund today, a source in the Russian Finance Ministry reported to RBC. The source specified that this sum had been allocated to repay a part of the principal debt while interests would be paid later, according to the corresponding schedule.
Since the beginning of 2003, Russia has already repaid about $1.35bn to the IMF, including both payments on the principal debt and interests. Russia's total payments to the fund to be made this year are about $2.1bn.
