International aviation salon to be held in Zhukovsky in August

The sixth annual international space aviation salon entitled 'MAKC-2003' will take place outside of Moscow in Zhukovsky from August 19-24, said Deputy Chairman of the Organizing Committee and Deputy General Director of the Russian Space Aviation Agency Valery Voskoboinikov in a press conference on June 4. He said that the Russian space aviation agency will take part in preparations for the salon along with 18 federal ministries and departments, the city of Moscow, Moscow Region and company Rosoboronexport. Voskoboinikov said that the plan for activities at the salon has already been confirmed and they are now taking applications for participation. Voskoboinikov also said that they have already received applications from 422 companies from 36 countries. Moreover, they are already prepared to show 114 different flying apparatuses at the salon.

He said that this year 56 organizations will take part in the salon for the first time including Aerospace Equipment Corporation of St. Petersburg, which unites more than 40 companies. The corporation's products will be exhibited on a large stage which was rented in the E pavilion. Moreover, company Starozhily, military-industrial-aviation complex Sukhoi, company Tekhnokompleks, and companies from Perm, Samara Region and Bashkiria will also be showing their products at this year's salon. The Russian space aviation agency will also show its products. The Russian air force is also renting sizeable space at this year's salon.

Voskoboinikov said that this year's salon will set a record for the number of participants from abroad. Pavilions A and B are already reserved and will show national expositions from France, US, Germany, The Czech Republic, Poland, England and other countries. He said that the US plans to show air force technology - fighters and helicopters. Flight groups from Italy and France will present for the first time at the salon.

Voskoboinikov also said that the utmost care will be taken for the security of spectators and participants at this year's salon.
