The process of restructuring the electrical energy sector will unfold inactively until the coming presidential and parliamentary elections are over, YUKOS President Mikhail Khodorkovsky told journalists today. According to him, currently this process is rather inert and "it will be inert until the elections are held". In this respect, Khodorkovsky pointed out that the strategy of his company in the regions where it owned energy assets would not change in the near future.
YUKOS has blocking stakes in several energy companies including Tomskenergo, Kubanenergo, Tambovenergo and Belgorodenergo. As reported earlier, at the beginning of last July RAO UES chief Anatoly Chubais and Khodorkovsky signed a memorandum on understanding, which stipulated the principles of YUKOS participation in restructuring the Russian energy sector.
