The volume of trade turnover between Russia and Bulgaria amounted to $698min the first half of 2002, the Russian Economic Development and TradeMinistry reported. In particular, Russia's exports to Bulgaria reached$659m and imports from the latter amounted to $39m. The share of Russia inthe total volume of Bulgarian exports makes up 2.7 percent and its share inBulgarian imports is 24.3 percent.Medicines, perfumery and cosmetics take leading positions in the structureof Bulgarian exports while 90 percent of Bulgaria's imports from Russia areenergy resources (oil, natural gas, atomic fuel and coal). A source in theEconomic Development and Trade Ministry noted that Russia's participationin joint ventures with Bulgaria in the tourist sector could become apromising direction for developing collaboration between the twocountries.Bulgarian President Georgi Parvanov will pay a working visit to Russia onSeptember 19-21..
