Russian Emergencies Minister Sergei Shoigu has arrived in the Volgograd region today to assist in dealing with the aftermaths of the storm that hit the area in the small hours of Tuesday.
According to the local administration, the damage inflicted on the region is 100 mln roubles-worth (about $3.3 mln dollars). The area hit by the storm is 500 square kilometres where sixteen settlements, home to more than 22,000 people, are located. The roofs of 2,675 houses have been destroyed and panes shattered. The storm damaged about 5,000 hectares of crops. Four people were injured.
The Russian railway and interior troops are dealing with the aftermaths of the storm, using more than 100 equipment units.
