A large batch of drugs destroyed in Tajikistan

About 350 kg of narcotic substances were burnt at the Tajiktekstilmash plant Saturday. According to the public relations centre of the security ministry of Tajikistan, these narcotics were confiscated at different times by officers of the country's law-enforcement agencies.

Sixteen criminal cases were opened in connection with illegal drug trafficking. Twenty-two people, including five citizens of Afghanistan, were sentenced to various terms of imprisonment. According to the data presented by the same source, the security ministry /of Tajikistan/ confiscated over 182 kilograms of drugs, including 16 kg of heroin, in the first quarter of this year alone. Eleven people were detained in connection with drug trade cases.
