At least three people were injured in an explosion at a metals plant in west Georgia.
The explosion was reported in Manchester, a little more than 60 miles (97 kilometers) south of Atlanta, police said. Authorities were trying to evacuate the area in a half-mile (0.8-kilometer) radius surrounding the plant, which includes houses and a company that makes medical products.
Manchester Police Lt. Richard Dunn said he did not know the extent of the injuries.
Ken Rauch, human resources manager at G&S Metal Consultants, the plant's parent company in Wabash, Indiana, said that he and other executives were about to get on a plane to get to the plant. He gave no other information.
