Russia prepares meetings this month with representatives of the Syrian opposition in the capital, the special envoy to the Levantine state, the UN and the Arab League, Kofi Annan, said on Monday (2nd) in the Chancellery.
Deputy Foreign Minister of Russia, Mikhail Bagdanov, commented that, probably just this same week, a Syrian opposition group led by Michel Kilo, should travel to this city. a grouping who, he said, is now in a meeting of the Syrian opposition in Cairo.
Moreover, in the next 10 days, a meeting could be held here with the new head of the opposition Syrian National Council with Russian Foreign Minister, Sergei Lavrov.
In the talks with the opposition, they seek to have a broader view of events in Syria and make exhortations for all parties in the dispute to take constructive positions on the dispute, the Russian diplomat affirmed.
On the other hand, we call on everyone to comply with the Annan plan and the decisions adopted at the international conference on the Middle Eastern country, that occurred on Saturday in Geneva, he pointed out.
Thus, Foreign Ministry sources admitted the possibility of a meeting of the Special Envoy to Syria with the direction of Russia earlier this month, although it failed to specify whether the meeting would be in the capital, Russian television informed.
Moscow hosted the last months of several meetings with state authorities, with the opposition and civil servants of the Syrian government to seek an end to violence in that country and a peaceful solution to the aforementioned dispute.
