Trial gets closing arguments for airman accused of murder

Closing arguments began the trial against an airman accused of the 2005 murder of a fellow airman at an Air Force Base in Iceland.

Airman Calvin Hill, 21,could face the death penalty if convicted in the murder of Airman First Class Ashley Turner. Testimony in the court-martial at Bolling Air Force Base has lasted nearly three weeks.

The 20-year-old Turner was found beaten and stabbed in a dormitory lounge at the Naval Air Station in Keflavik, Iceland, on Aug. 14, 2005.

Turner was about to testify in Hill's court-martial on larceny charges for stealing $2,700 (1,993 EUR) from her. A spot of Turner's blood was found on Hill's shoelace following the killing.

But Hill's defense lawyers deny the murder charges and have suggested the killing could have been carried out by others, including Turner's boyfriend.
