Drama about British troops abusing Iraqis postponed

A drama about the British troops abusing prisoners in Iraq is postponed for Iran detain sailors and marines of the UK, the British broadcaster said.

Liza Marshall, commissioning editor for drama for Channel 4 television, said the British government had been consulted about whether to go ahead with the Thursday broadcast of "Mark of chain".

"We recognize that relatives of those held captive in Iran are concerned that the broadcast of the film at this point might jeopardize negotiations for their release," Marshall said in a statement released by Channel 4.

"While the channel believes this outcome is unlikely, we are anxious not to add to the extraordinary stresses and concerns they must be experiencing at this time and, in consultation with the writer and producers, we have therefore decided to delay transmission."

The transmission has been rescheduled for May 17, the channel said.
