Amid efforts to bring the divided Koreas together, a new South Korean commercial features the actual recording of a North Korean announcer.
"Shoot! The header scores!" the announcer cries with a thick North Korean accent. "The South Korean team has scored a golden goal."
The ad for telecommunications company KTF shows a fictional North Korean family cheering, but they are actually being portrayed by ethnic Koreans living in Shanghai, China.
The advertising agency that produced the commercial, Cheil Communications, said it paid an undisclosed amount in copyright fees to the North to use the announcer's voice, the AP reports.
The commercial started airing this month amid World cup fever that has gripped the South, where fans hope their team can repeat its surprising performance in 2002 when South Korea reached the semifinals.
