The Afghan government plans to build the first-ever railroad to develop trade with Pakistan and transit communications with Central Asian republics, Afghan Minister of Finance Ashraf Ghani said on return to Kabul from Pakistan and Saudi Arabia.
According to him, relevant bodies will start elaborating concrete plans to build two railways from the frontier town of Chaman (Baluchistan province, Pakistan) via Spinbuldak (Afghanistan) to the Afghan second largest city of Kandahar and from Torkham checkpoint to Nangarhar, the capital of Jalalabad province.
Speaking about the results of his visits to Pakistan and Saudi Arabia, the minister said they were very successful and will held to attract new investments into Afghanistan's economic recovery.
