The North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO) allotted a 1.5m-dollar grant to Moldova in 2003 to be spent on the project of monitoring the level and quality of water in the Dnestr and Prut rivers, a source in the Moldovan Ecology Ministry told RBC. Part of this money has already been spent to purchase four laboratories that will be set up on both ends of the two rivers on the territory of Moldova. The laboratories were fixed and tested by NATO's specialists and handed over to the Moldovan state hydro meteorological service Gidrometeo. It is planned, that the 24-hour monitoring of the level and quality of water in Dnestr and Prut will be started late in September 2003.
