UN should determine notion "terrorism"

General Secretary of the Organisation of the Collective Security Treaty (ODKB includes Russia, Belarus, Armenia, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan) Nikolai Bordyuzha said work to determine the notion "terrorism" should be completed as soon as possible within the framework of the UN.

"We would like the UN to accelerate the work on the juridical formulation of the notion "terrorism", and creation and renovation of the lists of terrorist organisations", Bordyuzha, who for the first time took part in the 5th meeting of the heads of regional organisations with the UN Secretary General on security questions, pointed out.

"We proposed concrete approaches to the ODKB cooperation with international organisations. A series of meetings with representatives of OSCE, the UN drug control and crime prevention programme, and the head of the UN Counter Terrorism Committee was very important," Bordyuzha stated.

"The regional organisations are the structures on which the UN should base its work in combating the challenges and threats in specific regions," Bordyuzha believes.
