Moldova's GDP gains 6 percent in Q1, 2003

According to preliminary data, the Moldovan GDP grew by 6 percent in the first quarter of 2003, a source in the Moldovan Economy Ministry told RBC today. Also, from January to April 2003, the Moldovan industrial production growth amounted to 14.5 percent against the same period of 2002, while agricultural production advanced by 1.6 percent.

Inflation increased by 6.2 percent during the first four months of 2003. In the first quarter of 2003, the volume of Moldovan exports grew by 21.3 percent and imports to 13.7 percent against the same period of 2002.
