The International Atomic Energy Agency, IAEA, called on the United States and other coalition members to allow its experts to return to Iraq.
As RIA Novosti was told at the UN press center in Moscow, IAEA Director General Mohamed El Baradei explains this request by the need "to determine the possible radiation danger of an urgent nature in Iraq." He expressed concern that "nuclear and radioactive materials in Iraq have hardly remained under effective control, after the ransacking and destruction of nuclear objects." El Baradei emphasized that "the IAEA has experienced international groups of experts in nuclear and radiation safety and nuclear emergencies, which could take off for Iraq right away."
