President of the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development Jean Lemierre considers Kazakhstan as a country with the most favourable investment climate in the CIS.
He gave this assessment at a press conference in Kazakhstan's capital Astana on Friday, when commenting on the results of the session of the Foreign Investors' Council under Kazakhstan's president that finished that day.
To improve the investment climate Kazakhstan should successfully combine economic and political reforms, Lemierre added.
Foreign investors believe that with positive legal basis existing, the government should work on putting the laws into practice, according to the EBRD president. It is also necessary to improve the general professional level of employers, investors say.
The Foreign Investors' Council under Kazakhstan's president was set up by a presidential decree in 1998 to ensure a direct dialog with investors operating in the country, and to quickly solve problems connected with investment activities.
