On Friday the Moldovan parliament has ratified an intergovernmental agreement on military cooperation between the Republic of Moldova and the Russian Federation, which was signed in Moscow in July 1997. The agreement intends, among other things, interaction in the use of military machines and armaments, exchange of visits, experience, information, conduct of joint research work, exercises, exchange of cadets. It also intends cooperation for improving social and health protection for servicemen, organisation of their leisure time. The Moldovan parliament has ratified this agreement by the majority of votes. Only representatives of the pro-Rumanian faction of the Christian-Democratic People's Party, which constitutes parliamentary minority, voted against.
