In case of collapse of Yugoslavia, the Democratic Opposition of Serbia, or DOS, is going to nominate incumbent Yugoslav President Vojislav Kostunica for the Serbia presidency. That was what Cedomir Jovanovic, leading the DOS faction in the Serbian parliament, told reporters Monday adding that the party advocates preservation of the Yugoslavian federation. However, should Montenegrins choose to disintegrate at parliamentary elections scheduled on April 22 and a referendum to be held some time later, Serbia will become an independent republic too, something which calls for elections, said Jovanovic. Jovanovic said it would be difficult to recall the incumbent president of Serbia, Milan Milutinovic, who took the office under ex-president Slobodan Milosevic. This would suggest a long and complicated administrative procedure. The DOS, however, does not believe Milutinovic to be an adequate leader of Serbia, according to Jovanovic.
