Pakistani-Afghan Border Almost Opened

Preventing illegal crossings of the Afghan-Pakistani border by those who support the Taliban radical Muslim movement and want to join its units, is virtually impossible. This information was provided by Ghulam Hazoor Bajwa, the Press Secretary of the Pakistani Embassy in Russia. According to him, the 2,000-km border separating the two states is not a border in the general understanding of the term with checkpoints and a raked border strip. In some places, it runs via mountainous passes and very difficult terrain. It is therefore understandable now that it is simply impossible to ensure its complete security. At the same time, Bajwa stressed, Pakistani authorities do their best to prevent the infiltration of volunteers into Afghanistan. To achieve this objective, border units were reinforced with additional army troops. Over the past week, more than 7,000 members of the Tehriq-e-Nifaz-e-Shariat-i-Mohammadi radical group, who support the Taliban movement, have crossed the Afghan border. In addition, another 30,000 volunteers from North-Western Pakistani regions primarily inhabited by Pushtuns, are ready to join their compatriots in Afghanistan.
