At least seven citizens of Kuwait, who fought side by side with the Taliban in Afghanistan, were killed in the battles of Kabul and Kandahar, reported the Kuwaiti newspaper Al-Qabas on Thursday. According to the newspaper, thirty citizens of Kuwait fought with the Taliban. The fate of the majority of them is unknown. Yesterday it became known that a sixteen-year-old Kuwaiti, Mohammad al-Anazi, who had yielded himself prisoner to Americans in Afghanistan, would soon be extradited to Kuwait. The newspaper also says that Iranian and Pakistani authorities arrested seventeen citizens of Kuwait, who were going to Afghanistan after the launch of the US military anti-terror operation. According to the newspaper, about 5,000 Arab and other foreign mercenaries fought with the Taliban. Altogether, more than 20,000 Arab citizens have been trained in the al-Qaida camps since 1990.
