Exhibition of Stamps, Dedicated to Indian-Soviet Relations, Opens in Kerala's Capital

Hundreds of stamps, dedicated to Indian-Soviet relations, are exhibited in one of the largest halls of the Kala Arts Academy in Panaji, the capital city of the southern state of Kerala.

The exhibited Indian and Soviet stamps were issued before the collapse of the Soviet Union in 1991. They have been collected by the famous local philatelist V. R. Nawelkar for many years. The stamps are exhibited on 19 large stands. The philatelist is especially proud of a series of stamps, dedicated to V. I. Lenin and the Soviet space programme, occupying several stands.

This is already the third exhibition of his collection, V. R. Nawelkar told RIA Novosti on Wednesday. The first exhibition was held in Bombay in 1964 and the second - in Panaji in 1974.
