The strengthening of parliamentary contacts between Russia and Japan will create "better relations between the two states," said Japanese Prime Minister Junichiro Koizumi at a Saturday meeting in Moscow between Japanese delegates and representatives of the Russian parliament.
"There are complex problems" in relations between Russia and Japan, but "there are also areas in which we can and must cooperate," said the Japanese premier.
Junichiro Koizumi set high store by the reception given to him in Moscow. He said he was received "so warmly and hospitably" that he "forgot all about the Russian cold weather." It is now 25 below zero centigrade in Moscow.
