Six UN inspectors' group fail to uncover weapons of mass destruction in Iraq

Six groups of UN inspectors are continuing today their so far unsuccessful search for weapons of mass destruction in Iraq. A release from the Iraqi Ministry of Information reported on Saturday morning that one group of specialists had arrived in the town of Basra yesterday (550 km south of Baghdad) to start work at an agricultural centre involved in date-palm research. Two other groups are inspecting a plant for producing alcoholic drinks in al-Khalis (60 km to the north of the capital) and a facility called al-Ubur, which is the only information about it that has been made public.

A UNMOVIC missile group on Saturday returned to the al-Maamun plant, which is located sixty kilometres to the south of Baghdad. The inspectors visited it yesterday and today's trip is already the third one to be made to the site since UN inspections were resumed at the end of November last year.

The UNMOVIC chemical and combined groups have so far not visited any facilities, the release reads.
