Ukrainian Prosecutor General Svyatoslav Piskun said at a press conference in Moscow on Friday that Russian, Ukrainian, and American investigators probe into a case of theft of about $2 billion with Ukrainian ex-prime minister Lazarenko and deputy Yulia Timoshenko involved. Altogether, the litigation involves 15 defendants. A Russian-Ukrainian investigation group has been set up.
Piskun pointed out that it had been established during the investigation that the debt of the Ukrainian energy system to Russia exceeds $279 million.
Piskun also stressed that Russia and Ukraine share a common approach to illegal immigration. He said this issue had been discussed at his meeting with the leadership of the Russian Prosecutor General's Office.
