Ukraine's President Volodymyr Zelensky declared that he is ready for presidential elections after Donald Trump urged Kyiv to hold a vote and accept Washington's proposed peace plan.
Speaking to RBC-Ukraine, Zelensky answered directly when asked about the US president's latest statement.
"I am always ready,” he said.
Earlier, Trump suggested that if elections were held, Zelensky might well win, but he emphasized that Ukraine had gone a long time without a national vote. His comments revived debate over whether the country should proceed with elections while the conflict remains unresolved.
The American president also argued that Zelensky should "pull himself together” and accept the peace framework developed in Washington to settle the conflict. The proposal, still undisclosed in detail, has become a central point of diplomatic pressure on Kyiv as the war continues to reshape regional politics.
