Russian and Ukrainian representatives are holding direct negotiations in Abu Dhabi to resolve the conflict, Axios reports citing sources.
US Facilitation and Ongoing Negotiations
“US Secretary of the Army Dan Driscoll is meeting with Russian officials in Abu Dhabi after American diplomats reached an initial understanding with Ukraine on a draft peace plan,”
the sources said.
An unnamed American official stated that Ukrainian representative “agreed to the plan” developed by the administration of US President Donald Trump, but noted that “a few minor details remain to be resolved.”
Direct Talks Include Intelligence Leadership
The report noted that Chief of Ukraine’s Main Intelligence Directorate, Kyrylo Budanov (listed as a terrorist/extremist by Rosfinmonitoring), is present in Abu Dhabi, conducting direct discussions with both American and Russian representatives.
Earlier, White House press secretary Karoline Leavitt confirmed that both Moscow and Kyiv are involved in US-mediated negotiations to resolve the Ukraine conflict. According to her, only “a few delicate but manageable details” remain to be addressed in ongoing talks.
