The UK has imposed sanctions on the Primate of the Russian Orthodox Church, Patriarch Kirill, according to a press release from the British government.
"The head of the Russian Orthodox Church, Patriarch Kirill, was also included in the sanctions list for his support of military aggression in Ukraine," the document says.
In addition, London added Presidential Commissioner for Children's Rights Maria Lvova-Belova, Moscow City Duma deputy Sergei Savostyanov, and Alexei Isaikin, head of the board of directors of the Volga-Dnepr group of companies, to the extended blacklist.
At the end of May, the EU Council was going to include Patriarch Kirill in its sanctions list, but, as it became known later, this decision was blocked by Hungary.
