Ferguson declares state of emergency after violent clashes

A state of emergency was declared on August 10 in Ferguson, USA, following violent clashes between the police and the demonstrators, who gathered to honor the memory of Michael Brown. 

Ferguson held demonstrations in memory of Michael Brown, an African-American teenager, who was shot dead a year ago by a white police officer. 

According to St. Louis police, five people, including three police officers, were injured at night, three police vehicles were damaged.

Tyrone Harris, a friend of Michael Brown, was arrested after he opened fire on the police. Harris was wounded in a shootout and taken to hospital where he underwent surgery. 

The police started taking measures to disperse the crowd after the demonstrators began throwing bottles with frozen water and rocks at law enforcers.
