Bergman and his fifth wife to lie in one grave

It was his last wish and it will come true. Ingmar Bergman’s fifth and last wife will be buried in his grave on the Baltic Sea island of Faro , a church official said Thursday.

The families of Bergman and his wife, Ingrid, have agreed on the move "so that the couple can rest together," said Helen Udden, a spokeswoman for the church where Ingrid's remains are currently buried.

Bergman - who directed cinema classics such as "The Seventh Seal" and the Oscar-winning "Fanny and Alexander" - died on July 30 in his home at Faro at the age of 89 and was buried at the Faro Church cemetery.

Ingrid Bergman - not to be confused with the Swedish actress with the same name - died in 1995. Her cremated remains were buried in Roslags bro, on the Swedish mainland.

"He wished for them to rest together but since he was buried in a coffin, there was no possibility for him to be buried here in Roslags bro," Udden said.

The couple had one daughter together, and 11 children from previous marriages. Bergman had been married four times before wedding Ingrid, commonly known by her former last name, von Rosen.
