Children's therapist sentenced for molestation

A former children’s hospital worker was sentenced to 45 years and 8 months in prison for molesting five disabled children and taking pornographic photos of others.

Several of the victims' families described the crime as their worst nightmares.

"I don't think you have a soul," parent Lillian Godfrey told Wayne Albert Bleyle at his sentencing hearing. "You're just an empty human shell."

Bleyle, who told investigators he molested as many as half the children he treated in his 10 years as a respiratory therapist at Rady Children's Hospital, stared straight ahead as a succession of weeping family members spoke from the public gallery behind him.
