Two explosions sounded late on Sunday near the frontier guard outpost Bechik in the Argun gorge on the Chechen section of the Russian-Georgian border. The RIA Novosti correspondent was told at the press service of the North Caucasian regional department of the Federal Frontier Service that the outpost's personnel immediately assumed perimeter defense and stepped up observation. Early on Monday reconnaissance groups with support from the air began to check the region. The press service reported that the past week 12 border intruders have been detained and two hideouts of militants discovered on Russia's southern border.
