The Siberian Chess Federation has been established at the founding session of representatives of the chess federations from the Novosibirsk, Kemerovo, Chita, Omsk and Tomsk regions and the Republic of Buryatia.
The President of the new Chess Federation, elected unanimously, has become Tomsk Mayor Aleksander Makarov, the information policy committee disclosed on Wednesday. Mikhail Naidov /Kemerovo/ and Aleksey Khasin /Novosibirsk/ were elected Vice Presidents. The post of the Executive Director was given to Boris Shaidullin, who was the director of the Pyotr Izmailov Tomsk Chess Club.
The new chess organisation is intended for the coordination of the activities of the regional chess federations and is aimed to make this intellectual game popular in the Siberian region.
Tomsk was selected to host the conference due to its local chess players, who brought the city a glory of the Siberian chess centre, by having achieved great successes at the republican and international levels.
