Actress Heather Locklear could be tossed behind bars after bowling over a street sign in her BMW and then bolting, a prosecutor said Wednesday.
Locklear's Ventura County case is a misdemeanor, but the "Melrose Place" star is already on probation for pleading no contest to reckless driving in 2008 following her drunken-driving arrest in Santa Barbara, New York Daily News reports.
The 48-year-old actress was arrested for allegedly hitting a no-parking sign on a public street early Saturday morning near her gated-community home in Ventura County, Calif., and left without notifying anyone, police say.
The actress, who was driving a black 2005 BMW, was cited for misdemeanor hit-and-run after Ventura County Sheriffs examined debris left at the scene and traced it back to her car, sheriff's spokesman Ross Bonfiglio tells PEOPLE.
According to Sky News, Locklear, who also starred in TJ Hooker and Dynasty, is due to appear in court on May 17.
In January last year she pleaded no contest to a charge of reckless driving after a journalist phoned police to tell them the actress was behaving erratically shortly before driving away from a supermarket.
A blood test showed no alcohol or illegal drugs in her system. Authorities said her prescription medicine could have affected her ability to drive.
