La Scala ballet troupe to perform at Mariinka theater for the first time ever

The La Scala ballet troupe is to perform at the world's famous Mariinka theater here October 7-9, that is, on the eve of the 221-st Mariinka season.

Talking to RIA-NOVOSTI here the other day, officials from the Mariinka press center noted that La Scala professionals will offer their latest production, i.e. George Balanchine's "A Midsummer's Night Dream", on the eve of that famous choreographer's 100-st birth anniversary.

The forthcoming La Scala guest performance follows in the wake of other guest performances involving the world's leading ballet troupes, i.e. the Royal London Ballet, John Neumeier's Hamburg ballet and the New York City Ballet.
